How to Participate in Our Auctions

Complete the registration form, pay your refundable deposit, and get ready to bid on top-quality items!
1. Registration & Deposit Payment
To bid in our auctions, all participants must register and pay a R5,000 refundable deposit. This deposit ensures serious bidding and will be deducted from your final purchase price if you win a bid or fully refunded if you do not win.
Registration Process:

Complete the Sign-Up Form:
- Full Name
- ID Number / Company Registration Number
- Email Address
- Auction Date You Wish to Participate In
- Banking Details for Refund Processing

Deposit Payment:
- After submitting your registration form, you will receive an email with payment instructions.
- Pay the R5,000 deposit via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) using the provided details.
- Send proof of payment (POP) to our designated email address.

Receive Login Details:
- Once we confirm your payment, we will send your unique login credentials to access the online auction platform.
2. Viewing of Auction Vehicles
Buyers are encouraged to inspect auction vehicles before bidding. You can visit our yard and view the available vehicles on weekdays from 08:00-17:00.
- No test drives will be allowed.
- Vehicles are sold as is, with no guarantees or warranties.
3. Bidding Process
- Once logged in, you can place bids on listed vehicles during the live auction.
- The highest bidder wins the auction.
- If you win, the R5,000 deposit will be deducted from your final payment amount.
- If you do not win, your deposit will be fully refunded within 5-10 business days after the auction.
4. Payment & Collection
- If you win a bid, you must settle the full amount within 48 hours of the auction closing.
- Payment must be made via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) – cash payments are not accepted unless pre arranged.
- Once payment is confirmed, you will receive the necessary documentation to collect your vehicle from our yard.
- The buyer is responsible for vehicle licensing, registration, and any roadworthy requirements.
5. Refund Policy for Deposits
- If you do not win a bid, your deposit will be refunded within 5-10 business days after the auction.
- Refunds will only be processed to the banking details provided during registration.
- No refunds will be issued for bidders who fail to complete the purchase after winning a bid (see default penalties below).
6. Auction Terms & Conditions
General Auction Rules
- All bidders must be 18 years or older and have a valid South African ID or business registration.
- Discovery Auctions acts as a facilitator and does not own the vehicles being auctioned.
- All auction sales are final and binding. No cancellations or refunds will be accepted once a bid is won.
- Vehicles are sold voetstoots (as is) with no warranties, guarantees, or return policies.
Default & Penalties
- If a winning bidder fails to complete the full payment within 48 hours, they will forfeit their R5,000 deposit and may be banned from future auctions.
- If a bidder intentionally disrupts the auction or engages in fraudulent activity, they will be disqualified and reported to the appropriate legal authorities.
Legal Compliance (South African Law)
- This auction is governed by the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) 68 of 2008, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
- Bidders acknowledge that they have read and understood these terms before participating in the auction.
- By registering and bidding, participants agree to these terms and conditions, which form a legally binding contract.
